Adopt with SPOT

HOW SPOT ADOPTION WORKS

  1. Check out our available pets. You can find photos and information for all available SPOT cats and dogs on Petfinder. If you don't see a pet you love today, check back soon. There are always new pets coming to SPOT.

  2. Submit an Adoption form.

  3. Keep an eye on your email! A SPOT volunteer will review your application and let you know if you and your prospective pet are a good fit. If it's a match, we'll set up a meet and greet.

  4. If all goes well, it's time to bring home your new pet! We do request an adoption fee, which covers spaying/neutering your pet, vaccinations, parasite control (fleas, ear mites, worms, etc), an ID tag, a microchip and registration, feline testing (where applicable), and a free vet check up at participating veterinary clinics.

Note: SPOT’s policy includes a two week post-adoption in-home trial. If the pet is returned during that period, the adoption costs will be partially refunded.

TIPS FOR NEW PET OWNERS

If you're preparing to bring home your first pet, Petfinder has useful guides for introducing a new animal to your home. We suggest their articles on bringing a cat home and bringing a dog home.

The ASPCA has a handy list of the Top 5 Ways to Prep Your Home for a Puppy or Kitten.

Animal safety is key to keeping your pets healthy and safe. We recommend the following animal safety guides:
